In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore, for performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation and quality up-gradation of institutions of higher education, the NAAC proposes that every accredited institution establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a post-accreditation quality sustenance measure. Since quality enhancement is a continuous process, the IQAC will become a part of an institution’s system and work towards realizing the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of institutions. USTM established its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in 2012 as per NAAC guidelines to plan, guide, and monitor all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Enhancement (QE) activities.

IQAC acts as the university’s central quality mechanism, ensuring academic excellence, strong governance, and continuous improvement aligned with global standards.

It promotes quality across academic and administrative processes by training, counselling, and motivating teaching and non-teaching staff.

IQAC encourages research activities, interdisciplinary collaboration, dissemination of research policies, and facilitates the implementation of MoUs.

It designs and implements quality processes, trains internal monitors, reviews procedures periodically, and initiates corrective actions

IQAC maintains essential documentation, updates university information (including website content), and prepares annual and activity reports for the Chancellor’s Office.
